This was meant to be a general "Thank you for being my patients" end/beginning of the year wrap up
But now it's mostly about the fires
I started writing this about a week and a half ago and lost the draft. I rewrote it a few days later, as the winds were starting. And then everything burnt and now that old newsletter seems out of place. Third time’s a charm. Nope! Starting over a 4th time because I was not writing well and nitpicking my writing and, ultimately, I just want to get this out ASAP.
Every patient I’ve seen since the fires started has a nervous system that is dialed up to 11. I’ve been doing a lot of trauma treatments and patients feel “completely different” afterwards, so please come in if you are feeling on edge. We’re all in fight/flight/freeze and it’s too long for our bodies to sustain that.
If you have lost your home, please contact me for some free acupuncture appointments.
If you have donated money, time, supplies, etc., please send me a receipt or photo or whatever and I’ll put a $10 credit on your account. If you’re helping out by fostering an animal, please send me several pictures of that animal. Also, everyone, please feel free to send me pictures of your pets in general (drop them in the comments for everyone!).

We all know the billionaires aren’t going to save us, so please think about how you can help others. Trust me, IT FEELS GOOD. If there is any way I can be of service to you, please let me know.
Wear a mask out there! A good N95 or better, ideally. While AQI numbers have been good lately, I’m not sure that they take into account all the nasty incinerated building materials that are floating around. My cousin is a climate scientist and I asked her some pointed questions this morning. She’s going to check with her buddies and get back to me. I’ll post that information on Instagram when she does (the gist is, “Can I trust that AQI number?”).
Please give yourself some grace. Even if you didn’t lose your home, this experience has been traumatic for all of us. The fact that you still have your things does not negate the way you are feeling. If you are a boss to people, please give them a lot of grace. Is that project really that urgent?
Thank you for putting your trust in me as your acupuncturist. I love my patients and my job brings me a lot of joy. I recognize that not everyone can say that about their profession. You, my patients, are cool and diverse and I truly enjoy being around you and am honored to help guide you into feeling a bit better in this chaotic world.
Take care out there,
Alex
p.s. If you’re wondering why you’re getting this newsletter, it’s because you checked the “yes, I’d like emails” box on your intake form. This is the first newsletter I’ve written in about a year, so don’t worry, I won’t spam you. That said, if you’d like to unsubscribe, please feel free to do so!
